I describe the experience of a child abandoned by their mother as a wrecked bicycle, damaged not beyond repair, but missing the support that should have been there from the beginning. In this video, I share how the broken hub of the bike mirrors the absence of a mother’s love and guidance, and how healing comes not from pretending the damage never happened, but from understanding it and finding the people, relationships, and grace that help restore what was missing. This is a glimpse into the metaphor that carries the memoir and the journey from brokenness toward wholeness.
